Frances Estelle Harris Kehley, 97, of Travis County passed away Monday at Austin Nursing Center in Austin, Texas.

A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Heartland Funeral Home, with the Rev. Sterling Lentz officiating. A short graveside service will be held at Winchell Cemetery in Winchell, Texas, following the funeral.

Mrs. Kehley was born in Kemp, Texas, on April 14, 1910. She grew up in the Lubbock area of West Texas. She also lived in Winchell, Fort Worth and Brownwood, Texas, before moving to Austin in 2002 to live with her daughter, Charlesta Kehley Lee.

Mrs. Kehley worked at Convair/General Dynamics in Fort Worth as a riveter on B-17 and B-24 bombers, but spent most of her life as a homemaker and devoted mother of three.

Survivors include her daughters, Charlesta Kehley Lee and husband, Jim Lee, and Alycia Helen Kehley Ortega and husband, Tony Ortega, all of Austin; a granddaughter, Lanica Lane Kehley Wyant of Georgia; and a grandson, Shaun Johnson of New York.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John William Kehley, and a son, John ‘Tex’ Kehley.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
