COLEMAN — Funeral service for Evelyn V. Elkins, 83, of Coleman will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Kerzee officiating. Burial will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

She died Tuesday, June 2, 2009, in Brownwood.

She was born May 13, 1926, in Upland, Calif., to Henry Clifford Bickmore and Violet G. Olsen Bickmore. On Nov. 13, 1943, she was married to Winston Elkins in Chino, Calif. When she lived in Phoenix she was a lab technician at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was a volunteer with the Pink Ladies at Coleman County Medical Center. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Coleman.

Survivors include her husband, Winston B. Elkins of Coleman; son, Dan W. Elkins and wife Sammy of Dewey, Ariz.; two daughters, Margaret E. Meisterhans of St. David, Ariz., and Pamela J. Gregory and husband Charles of Cordes Lakes, Ariz.; two brothers, Henry Clifford Bickmore Jr. of Delano, Calif., and Robert Lee Bickmore of Pixley, Calif.; two sisters, Phyllis Olden of Phalen, Calif., and Nita McPherson of Chico, Calif.; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a son, Clifford Elkins, in 1994.
