Mr. White passed away on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008, at his home surrounded by his family.

Maurice White was born on Aug. 7, 1919, in Lampasas; and he was the son of Ross White and Margie Ola Kelley White. He graduated from Richland Springs High School and on Oct. 28, 1939, and was married to the love of his life, Mae Harrison, in Bowser Texas. She preceded him in death on Dec. 14, 2007.

Mr. White served his Country in the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. For many years, Mae and Maurice made their home in the Bowser Community before moving to Mullin in 1950 and then to Early in 1976. He spent years in the construction industry and later retired from 3M. Maurice enjoyed participating and watching all types of sports, but most of all, he loved farming, ranching, raising livestock and riding his beloved horses.

Maurice always had a kind word and a helping hand for everyone he met. He loved sharing stories and telling jokes and was known to all as “Daddy White.” He spent his retirement years enjoying his grandsons and great-grandchildren. He was a longtime member of the Early Church of Christ.

He is survived by a daughter, Beverly Hohertz and husband, Carl Ray of Early; grandsons, Heath Hohertz and wife Susan of Goldthwaite and Harlan Hohertz and wife Lori of Early. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Hagen, Hallie-Jo and Henslie Hohertz; brother, Garland White of Midland and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, his twin sister, two brothers and two sisters.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the kind and loving caregivers of Mr. White: Cindy Goins, Dee “Ellen” Anderson, Teresa Pearce, the First Aide Agency Sitters, Encompass Home Healthcare, Lighthouse Hospice, and many others.
