Georgia Strawn, (Mrs. Les Strawn Jr.) age 81, of Comanche died Friday morning at her daughter’s home in Bailey, Colo.

She was born Nov. 20, 1926, in Gorman, Texas, the daughter of the late Forrest and Vera Taylor. She lived in Gorman, Breckenridge, Eastland, Sonora, Del Rio and Comanche following her husband of over 57 years, Les Strawn, and his law enforcement career as a Texas Highway Patrolman. It was never an easy task waiting for his shift to be over and him returning home safe, but she did so with courage and grace.

Georgia was known for her patient and caring ways. She was a volunteer at Comanche Cares for many years.

She was a member of Beta Sigma Pi for over 50 years. She was a homemaker who loved spending time in her garden as well as doing puzzles and crocheting to pass her time. She also enjoyed camping, bass fishing and accompanying Les on the golf course.

Georgia is survived by her daughter, Debbie Perkins of Bailey, Colo., and her grandchildren Bandy Jacob Strawn and Destiney Perkins also of Colorado; also, a brother, James Taylor of Texarkana.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Les Strawn; a son, Herschel Strawn; a brother, Charles Taylor; and her parents.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday in the Comanche County Garden of Memories with Chaplain Dick Williams officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Comanche.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
