EVANT - Funeral services for Bernard D. Flatt, D.C., of Evant will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Evant Baptist Church with Leland Hall officiating. Burial will be in Murphree Cemetery in Evant. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home in Goldthwaite.

He died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, in Evant.

He was born March 8, 1925, in Hamilton County to Annon Lee and Ora Hodo Flatt. He graduated from Evant High School, and Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, Mo. He was married to Lucille Davidson, and retired to Evant from Dallas in the early 1990s. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Bee House Masonic Lodge, where he was a 50-year member. He was a chiropractor who practiced in Smithville, Dallas and Cedar Creek Lake.

Survivors include a daughter, Darcille Broussard and husband Louis of Evant; a son, Phillip A. Flatt of Evant; one sister, Wanda Flatt Piper of Temple; aunts and uncles, Duella Hodo, and Edna and D.W. McDonald, all of Evant; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded by his parents; and his wife, Lucille Davidson Flatt.

Memorials may be made to the Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital in Dallas.
