Funeral services for Ruth Thomas Sapenter, 77, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010, at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, with the Rev. Eddie Hayes officiating. Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

    Ruth was born Dec. 10, 1932, to Cleo and Bennie Thomas in Brownwood, Texas. Ruth graduated from Hardin High School in August of 1950. She was married to Ernest Sapenter on Aug. 7, 1957, and they moved to Los Angeles, Calif, where she attended Sawyer Business College. In Los Angeles, Ruth worked for Lane Bryant and later for Macy’s where  she retired. After retiring, Ruth returned to Brownwood to care for her mother and aunt. 

    Ruth loved the Lord and was a very faithful  member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where she worked in any area she was called upon.

    Left to cherish her memory are one nephew and his wife, Samuel and Rita Hairston of Brownwood; one niece, Theresa Hairston of Carrollton and three great nephews, David Hairston of Irving, Eric Joshua and wife Melanie of Forney; and Thomas Joshua of Austin; and two great-great nephews; the love of her life Matthew Hairston of Brownwood and David 

John Hairston of Irving; and one great-great-great nephew Xavier Joshua of Forney, also a great friend who was like a daughter, Katrina Young Kosoko of Fontano, Calif.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister Kathleen Hairston.

    The family would like to thank the staff of Solaris Healthcare, Inc. for the loving care they provided for our loved one. 

    In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Solaris Healthcare Inc.
