GOLDTHWAITE — Funeral services for Ray Rivers Jr., 84, of Goldthwaite will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 21, at Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Chapel with Steve Baker officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Houston. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He died Saturday, April 17, 2010, at Hamilton Regional Hospital.
He was born April 17, 1926, in Rotan, to Ray Rivers Sr. and Lavada (Price) Rivers. He was married to Johnnie Omera on Feb. 25, 1944, in Houston, and she preceded him in death in 1968. He was married to Miriam Williams on July 2, 1972, in Houston. He was a Chief Bridge Inspector with the City of Houston. He was a Mason. He was in the Navy.
Survivors include his children, Bobby Rivers and wife Yolande and Johnnie Newlin and husband John, all of Houston; four grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Parker Rivers; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Johnnie; his second wife, Miriam; and two sisters, Estelle and Margaret.
