COMANCHE – Services for Gaylon D. Abbey of Comanche will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, at East Side Baptist Church in Comanche with the Rev. Steve Schulte officiating and the Rev. Bill Ellis assisting. Burial will follow the service in Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Comanche County under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

    He died Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009.   

    He was born July 3, 1934, to Edgar Carroll and Bernice Kelley Abbey. On Sept. 22, 1953, he was married to Mary Bingham in Comanche. He owned and operated Gaylon Abbey’s Auto Service in Comanche for 25 years.

    He is survived by his wife; three sons and their wives, Jim and Nancy Abbey, Carroll and Rhonda Abbey, all of Comanche, and Mark and Belynda Abbey of Burnet; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Wayland Abbey of Comanche; a sister-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Elmo, E.W. “Dub” and Jessie; and one sister, Nadine Clawson.
