SANTA ANNA — Funeral services for Jewel Lena Anderson, 97, of Santa Anna, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at Northside Church of Christ with Sam Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Santa Anna Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Henderson Funeral Home of Santa Anna.
She died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007, at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
She was born Jewel Lena Robbins on Oct. 15, 1910, in Brown County to James Alvin and Mary Ella Advants Robbins. She was raised in Brown and Coleman counties. She was married to George Robert Anderson on Dec. 17, 1936, in Coleman. He died in 1993. She had been a resident of Coleman County since 1921 and was a charter member of the Northside Church of Christ where she taught preschool children’s class for many years. She worked as a nurse aide at Ranger Park Nursing Home and Hospital for several years and was a homemaker.
Survivors include four sons, Wilburn and wife Geneva Anderson of San Antonio, Rowena Anderson of Santa Anna, Norman and wife Willetta Anderson of Santa Anna, and Edward and wife Linda Anderson of Brookesmith; three sisters, Ruby Huggins of Stratford, Catherine Haney of Dalhart, and Mary Ella and husband J. E. Brannon of Stratford; sister-in-law, Dorothy Robbins of Stratford; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
