Jesse Ratliff, age 75, of Brownwood, passed from this life on June 16, 2009, after a lengthy illness. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, June 18, 2009, at the Austin Avenue Church of Christ. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 on Wednesday evening. Jesse and wife Robbie, owners of Ratliff Steel Company since 1984, were married on July 5, 1952. The couple moved to Brownwood in 1960. Jesse was a member of Austin Avenue Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon for many years. He had been a member of the Brownwood Jaycees, served as president of the Freshman American Little League Baseball Association, was past president of the Brownwood Lions Booster Club and continued to be a great supporter for youth programs in Brownwood both financially and with his attendance. One of his passions for youth allowed him to serve as a board member of Cherokee Home for Children. Jesse had many friends he loved dearly, many of whom he was involved with in the Kiwanis Club of Brownwood. He had also served as a past director of the Brownwood Chamber of Commerce.

Jesse is survived by his wife, Robbie, of Brownwood; two sons, Scottye Ratliff of Midland and Bryce Ratliff and wife Janet of Brownwood; eight grandchildren, Stehl, Lexxi, and Lakyn Ratliff of Brownwood, Shay Ratliff of Abilene, Sloan Clark of Ennis, Scottye, Sydnee and Si Ratliff of Midland, and three great-grandchildren. Jesse is also survived by a brother, Charles Ratliff of Roscoe, and two sisters, Mary Ann Stocker of Krum and Delores Ratliff of the Metroplex.

Jesse was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Thelma Ratliff, a brother, Tommy Ratliff, and an infant son Eric Ratliff.

Jesse was a man who loved Jesus Christ. Even though he had fought a hard battle for his health, his family and friends are so grateful and blessed to have an opportunity to have known him and to have been with him.
