Funeral services for Odessa Clark, age 85, of Brownwood, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2009, in the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Wallace Pierce officiating. Interment will follow in the Mukewater Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Odessa died Saturday, June 6, 2009, in Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
She was born on Sept. 10, 1923, in Bangs to Willie Lee and Susie (Rutledge) Walker. She was a lifelong resident of Brown County. Odessa worked as a licensed vocational nurse for Brownwood Regional Medical Center for 20 years before retiring. She was a former member of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church.
Odessa is survived by two daughters, Sheila Lawson and husband David of Marlin and Kathryn Dixon and husband Bill of Brownwood; two sons, Marvin Clark and Edward Clark both of Brownwood; nine grandchildren, Belinda, Robert, Joshua, Melissa, Scott, Michael, Chere, Stefani, and James; six great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mattie Lee Alley, Dorothy Englert, and Betty Pierce.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Sandra Kay Clark, two brothers, Cecil and Ira Walker, two sisters, Martha Jane Buske and Edna White.
