Harvey Dodson, age 77, of Brownwood died Tuesday at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 6, 1930, in Rawls, Texas, and spent most of his childhood in the Santa Anna area, graduating from Santa Anna High in 1948. He was best known for his tremendous work ethic, working many years for Morton Foods and Wise Distributing companies. Many people called him “The Potato Chip Man.” During his retirement years, he was employed with Winn-Dixie/Brookshire’s, and most recently with Family Dollar.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Dodson; and five children, Harvey Joe Dodson of Abilene, Sherry Graham of Blanket, Patsy Delarosa of Brownwood, Tony Dodson of Gatesville and Rebecca Batey of Valley Mills; five stepchildren, Celeste Martin of Stephenville, Lance Johnson of Shadyside, Ohio, Debbie Douglas, Frank Martin and Terral Martin, all of Brownwood; 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Billy, Freddie and Mickey Dodson; plus many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Veda Dodson of Santa Anna.
There will be a memorial service from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at Milton Avenue Baptist Church, 702 Milton Ave., Brownwood.
