Graveside services for Patsy Jo (Pat) Allen, age 78, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2008, at the Cleburne Memorial Cemetery, Cleburne, under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home, Dale Tabor officiating. She left this life for her heavenly home on June 3, 2008, in Springfield, Mo., after a short but courageous battle with lung cancer.

Pat was born Feb. 26, 1930, to Hoyle and Opal Friou in Cleburne, Texas. Her entire school life was spent in Cleburne. After graduating from Cleburne High School, she attended Draughnís Business School in Fort Worth. She married Charles J Allen of Brownwood on Dec. 3, 1948. He preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 1984.

Brownwood was home to Pat for over 40 years, where she worked for Weakley-Watson, Montgomery Ward, JRB, Nathanís and First National Bank. After her retirement, she lived for a few years in San Angelo, Texas, four years in Colorado Springs, Colo., and finally in Nixa, Mo. Those who knew her remember her Southern drawl and funny expressions, her love of anything chocolate, Mexican food, the color purple, bird-watching, and working crossword puzzles. But her greatest loves were her family and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Pat became a Christian late in life at the age of 67 and faithfully lived for the Lord since then. She was an inspiration to all who knew her with her daily Bible readings and the Christian life she led.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Friou Allen and wife, Karen, of May, Texas, and Holly Tabor and husband, Craig, of Nixa, Mo.; her precious grandchildren, Shannon Allen of Brownwood, Texas, Alyssa Tabor and Reece Tabor, of Nixa, Mo.; her aunt, Jeanne Lyle, of Dallas, Texas; and numerous wonderful friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hoyle and Opal Friou; her husband, Charlie; and two infant sisters, Cynthia and Peggy.

Her family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all her loving caregivers at Primrose Place and Community Hospices of America in Springfield, Mo. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests donations in her memory to Community Hospices of America, 1465 E. Primrose, Ste. A, Springfield, Mo. 65804 or the Cherokee Home for Children, P.O. Box 295, Cherokee, TX 76832.
