††† Elaine P. Henkel, age 88, of Argyle, Texas, passed away Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, in Plano, Texas.
††† Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville. Interment will follow at 4 p.m. at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early, Texas. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.†
††† She was born Aug. 7, 1922, in Morris, Okla., to W.R. Parker and Myrtle Nichols Parker. Elaine attended Howard Payne University and transferred to North Texas State Teacherís College where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1942. In 1946 Elaine was married to Robert F. Henkel who preceded her in death in 1997. She worked as a second grade school teacher in Wharton, Texas, and then in Sugarland, Texas, for a combined 20 year career. Elaine was a member of the 36th Division Association and was on the Howard Payne Alumni Association Board of Directors in 2003. Elaine was an active member of the Alief Baptist Church prior to moving to Lewisville. She actively assisted in polling locations during numerous local, state and federal elections. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
††† She is survived by her sons, Daniel Henkel and wife Sarah, Fred Henkel and Terry Henkel and wife Carrie and grandsons, Paul Henkel, Scott Henkel and Kyle Henkel.
