Vernon Lee Shive passed away peacefully in Austin on Dec. 21, 2008, while surrounded by his family. He was born Jan. 30, 1937, in Big Spring, Texas, and grew up in Early, Texas.
Vernon graduated from his beloved Texas A&M University in 1965 (GIG ‘EM) with a degree in Entomology. He was a life-long entrepreneur whose positive attitude and love of life affected family and friends alike. Vernon was also a spiritual man who finally found his treasure in Heaven and whose collection of Bibles and gospel music may be unrivalled for years. Each conversation with him started with “It’s a beautiful day.” We will truly miss that.
He was preceded in death by his father Vernon Owen, his mother Mary Lee and his loving son Kevin Andrew.
Vernon is survived by the mother of his children, Hetty Moore of Cedar Park; by his children, Robert, Kendall and Raquel; six beautiful grandchildren; and his brother, John Shive and family of Lago Vista. The family will hold a graveside service on at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, in Early, Texas at Eastlawn Memorial Park.
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee.
