Graveside funeral services for Wiley H. Rogers, 89, of Early, and formerly of Lubbock, will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, in the Cedar Point Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home.

Mr. Rogers died Friday, September 4, 2009, in Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

Wiley was born on June 10, 1920, in Hagerman, N.M. to Samuel and Mary (Manning) Rogers. The family later moved to Bronte. He served his country in World War II in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Pelias. He was a survivor of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7, 1941.

He married Corine Hodges in 1949. They lived in Lubbock for more than 50 years, where they owned Wiley’s Sheet and Metal. They moved to Early in 2005. He was a longtime member of the church of Christ.

Wiley is survived by his wife of 62 years, Corine, of Early; two sisters, Vertice Bankhead and Naoma Bankhead, both of Odessa; and several nieces and nephews.
