Georgia Rodgers, age 78, of Brownwood passed away Aug. 1, 2008, in Austin.

A longtime resident of Brownwood, she was born April 7, 1930, to Charles and Audie White in Blanket. She graduated from Blanket High School and attended Daniel Baker College. She married Robert Rodgers in Blanket, Texas, on Sept. 4, 1952. She worked as a clerk for the Department of Human Services, was a 50-plus-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, past president of the Brown County Historical Society, past president of the Brown County Museum Board, and a member of the Historical Commission of Brown County. Her favorite interests included genealogy and gardening.

She is survived by her husband retired Lt. Col. Robert J. Rodgers of Brownwood; two daughters, Vicky Swafford and husband Gayle of Richmond, and Robin Sandifer and husband Mark of Austin; two grandchildren, Daron Swafford and wife Tina and Shelly Reed and husband Lane, all of Austin; three great-grandchildren, Cassidy and Joey Swafford and Nash Reed; two brothers, Charles White Jr. and wife Bennie Lou of Brownwood, and Ike J.A. White of Brownwood; her aunt, Letha Oneta Bush Moore of San Angelo; and special relative Sherry Townsley.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, in the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jimmie Mize officiating. Interment will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday evening at Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
