Thelma Doris Moren, age 87, of Brownwood died Wednesday afternoon at her daughterís home at Lake Proctor.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Benny M. Allcorn officiating. Burial will follow in the Eastlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, 2009, at the funeral home.

Born in Coleman County, she was the daughter of Lee Wiley Smith and Anna Lee Nelson Smith. She attended school in the Buffalo Community in Coleman County and later was married to George Lee Moren on May 12, 1947. He preceded her in death in 1995.

She is survived by her only child, Theda (Jodi) Sedam and son-in-law, Tommy Sedam of Lake Proctor; five granddaughters, Evonneda Fields and husband David of Lake Proctor, Lesa Paul and husband Don of Huntsville, Tracy Sciba of Bay City, Leah Fojtek and husband Michael of Bay City, and Dana Jones and husband Bill of Dickenson; nine great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great grandchildren.

Other survivors include nieces, Judy Thacker of Brownwood, Bobbie Smith of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Leslie Ann of El Paso; and nephews Damon McCartney of Dallas and Ronnie Thacker of Houston.

Mrs. Moren was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary 3278. She spent many years working for those who had served our country. Also, the Lake Brownwood Lions Club held a very special place in her heart, and she had been a former member of the Brownwood Elks Lodge.

She was a former beautician and an LVN at the Brownwood Community Hospital for 29 years.

She was a member of the St. Johnís Episcopal Church where she was a member of the Daughters of the King and had been active in the home demonstration club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Cecil Smith; and two sisters, Sealy Thacker and Fay McCartney.
