Funeral services for Thomas Jefferson “T. J.” Beard Jr. age 66, of Early will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 27, at the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Kathy Monroe, Chaplain of the Brownwood Police Department, officiating. Burial will follow in the Eastlawn Memorial Park. Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today, at the funeral home.
Mr. Beard died Monday morning, Aug. 24, 2009, at the Brownwood Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness.
He was born June 30, 1943, in Casa Grande, Arizona, the son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Gladys Davis Beard Jr. He had lived in Brown County most of his life and was a retired engineer with Santa Fe Railroad. He was Pentecostal by faith. One of his favorite pastimes was drinking coffee at Skillet’s restaurant which he referred to as his office. He loved visiting friends and family there. He will be deeply missed by those he knew.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Alanna Beard of Brownwood; two daughters and a son-in-law, Patricia and Bruce Foster of Alabama and Tiffany Beard of Brownwood; six grandchildren and; five great-grandchildren; a brother, David Beard of San Antonio; six sisters, Betty Cunningham of Early, Mary Robinson of Amarillo, Manda McKinley of May, Ruth Dickerson of Whitney, Judy Walters of Brownwood, and Debra Kelly of Overton; a number of step-children, step-grandchildren and extended family also survives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters Nelda Carnes and Dorothy Irwin.
