Graveside services for Cynthia Jennell Wilkins, 59, of Blanket, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 21, 2009, at Rock Church Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Day and the Rev. Dean Banks officiating. Visitation will be held from 7-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Heartland Funeral Home in Early is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Wilkins passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2009, with loved ones by her side.
Cynthia Jennell Smart was born on June 10, 1950, in Baird, Texas, to Coley C. Smart and Carolina Augusta Neff Smart. She was raised and attended school in Cross Plains and acquired her GED in 1988. On Nov. 11, 1965, she was married to Grady Gale Wilkins. He preceded her in death on Nov. 20, 2002. Mrs. Wilkins worked as a cashier for 20 years at Whistle Stop in Blanket before retiring in 2004. Caring for her family and having close friends were the things that mattered most to her and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a Baptist and lived in Blanket for 40 years, moving there from Cross Plains.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Clayton Wilkins of Blanket; daughter, Lavonda Jones and husband Dejuan of Arlington; grandsons Chris Boykin of Blanket, Gregorey Fuller of New Braunfels and Joseph Wilkins of Round Rock; granddaughter Cyndi Boykin of Brownwood and great-granddaughter, Elyssa Lewis. She is also survived by three brothers, Coley Smart of Lake Brownwood, Clayton Smart of Florida and Carl Smart of Houston; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Grady Wilkins; parents, Carolina and Coley Smart; sisters, Rozenia Smart, Coleen Stephens, Dorothy Benes, Caroline “Cissie” Slayton, Clara Vickrey, Coreece Record and nephew Eddie Duane Slayton.
