GUSTINE — Funeral services for Herman B. Sparkman, 89, of Gustine will be 1 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Gustine with the Rev. George Archer and the Rev. Zachary Harrell officiating.  Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Gustine.

    He died on Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010, at Dove Hill Care Center and Villas in Hamilton.

    He was born Nov. 23, 1920, in Granbury, to Lonnie Sparkman and Effie (Moseley) Sparkman. He was married to Ola Cliftyne Terry on July 4, 1941, in Dublin. He was employed as a pipeline welder. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Gustine.

    Survivors include his friend, Billie “Ma” Couch of Gustine; sons, Terry Sparkman and wife Donna of Gustine, Lonnie Sparkman and wife Paula Barnhart of Comanche; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his wife.
