Mary Ruth Williams, 82, of Brownwood lost her courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, 1008, at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church with Bro. Bill Allen officiating. Interment will follow in Eastlawn memorial Park in Early. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mary was born Feb. 8, 1926, in Grandview, Texas, to H.G. and Laura Wellmaker. The family moved to Brownwood, where Mary married and raised two sons. She started her career at Lydick Roofing Company, then retired from 3M Company after 28 years of service. She decided to stay active after retirement and became a greeter at Wal-Mart. She was an active member of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church, where she enjoyed many friends and fellowship. Mary’s favorite activity was to travel with her son Randy and his family. During her illness, Mary would tell all her nurses and doctors about how she walked across the Golden Gate Bridge, and all the numerous Major League Baseball stadiums she had been to with her grandson Travis. The family wishes to thank all those who called, visited her, or sent cards during her two-month hospital stay. Your loving daily thoughts lifted her spirits.
She is survived by her son, Randy Williams and his wife Candayce of Fort Worth, and their children Sean Rosenthal, based a Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Wash., and Travis Williams of Fort Worth; son, Robert Williams and wife Carolyn of Brownwood and their daughter, Amanda, also of Brownwood; and a sister, Betty Tidwell and her husband John of Stamford.
