Raymond E. Olson passed away on Monday, May 28, 2007, at his home in California surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Hope, N.D., on Aug. 7, 1920, he married the love of his life, Phyllis Jean Anderson, on Oct. 13, 1940. Together they have resided in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1948.

Raymond was a veteran of World War II. Throughout his life he enjoyed being a Cub Scoutmaster, a Little League coach, and president of the Rental Housing Owner’s Association, along with the joy he shared with Phyllis in folk, round and square dancing. Raymond also worked in a lumber mill, as a fire fighter and many successful years as a plastering contractor and later, a general contractor. One of his greatest pleasures the past two years was playing bingo.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2007, at First Baptist Church of Castro Valley, Calif.

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Phyllis; daughter, RaeJean Gossett and husband Gene of Kona, Hawaii; son, Clifford Olson and wife Anne of Castro Valley, Calif.; daughter, Margene Stearns and husband Bob of Brownwood, Texas; and son, Mel Olson and wife Terry of Mexico Beach, Fla.

Additional survivors include 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren with one on the way.
