T.W. Lewis and Hulda Jane Chamberlain brought Lola into the world on July 16, 1916, in Concho County. She grew up on the family farm and worked many hours every day doing farm tasks. Later in life, she worked as a Nurses Aid at the Brownwood Community Hospital.

Lola spent her entire life as a care giver for family and friends. She loved to quilt, crochet and garden. But above all else, her favorite pastime was caring for her grandchildren. She was a member of The Southside Church and lifelong resident of Brownwood. She will forever be sadly missed and very lovingly remembered

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her three children; Mary B. Anderson and husband Wallis, of Georgetown, Clydeen Butler of Brownwood, and Charlie G. Smith and wife Barbara, of the Williams Community. She is also survived by one brother; Hubert Lewis, of Olney, Texas; nine grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Clyde Smith; three brothers; and four sisters.

The family wishes to expresses their gratitude and appreciation to all the nurses and care givers at Songbird Lodge and Lighthouse Hospice. With a very special thanks to Doctor Locklear and his staff, who not only took such good care of her, but was her friend for many, many years as well.
