TISHOMINGO, Okla. - Funeral services for Winston A. Combes, 84, of Tishomingo, formerly of Brownwood, were held 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, at the Clark Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John Curtis officiating. Interment followed in the Tishomingo Cemetery, under the direction of Clark Funeral Service of Tishomingo.

Mr. Combes passed away on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at his home.

Winston was born on April 26, 1924, in Bromide, Okla., to Lawrence Combes and Audra Redman Combes. He graduated from Tishomingo High School in 1942, and later served in the United States Army during World War II. After his discharge, he attended and graduated from Oklahoma A&M (now OSU) in Stillwater in 1949. On March 24, 1951, he was married to Anole Johnston in Ponca City, Okla. Winston worked for over 30 years for Swift & Company in their Feed Division in cities to include Holdenville, Okla., Chicago, Ill., Des Moines, Iowa, Springfield and Aurora, Mo, and Brownwood. He moved to Tishomingo in 2007 from Brownwood. He enjoyed golf and traveling as his hobbies.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Clyde Howard Combes and his sister, Ora Mae Robinson.

Winston is survived by his wife, Anole, of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, John and Pat Combes of Austin, Jim and Julie Combes of Brownfield, and Jeff Combes of McAllen; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Haskell and Sue Combes of Madill and Guy and Wanda Combes of Tishomingo; his sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Bob Cooper of Tishomingo; two grandchildren, Scott Combes of Austin and Sandy Combes of Los Angeles, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers for the services were Barry Combes, Mark Combes, Carl Atteberry, Clay Paul Combes, Doug Blackburn, and Jerold Phillips.
