COMANCHE — Funeral services for Bobbye J. Heathington, 78, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sally Fleming officiating. Burial will be at Gardens of Memorial Cemetery in Comanche County. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Comanche Funeral Home. Lunch will be at the church following the funeral.
She died Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, at Western Hills Healthcare Residence in Comanche.
She was born Aug. 14, 1929, in Comanche to John Thomas and Katie Inez (Vineyard) Carpenter. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Comanche and United Methodist Women. She was active in the American Cancer Society chapter, Comanche County Healthcare Volunteers, Comanche Cares and Comanche Wellness Center. For 22 years, she worked in area quality control at Lawyers Title Insurance Co. in Dallas.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Carol Heathington and Kenneth Rozen of Phoenix, Ariz.; brothers and sisters-in-law, James “Jim” and Charlene Carpenter of Comanche, and William P. and Anne Carpenter of Garwood; three nieces, Gale Easley and Kaye Williams, both of Comanche, and Kristine Naiser of Round Rock; two nephews, David Carpenter of Waco and Ryan Carpenter of San Antonio.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in Comanche or First United Methodist Church in Comanche.
