COLEMAN — Funeral services for John M. Howard, 88, of Luling will be held at 2 p.m. today at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kermit Sorrells officiating. Burial will follow in Stacy Cemetery.

    He died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, at his home.

    He was born Nov. 2, 1922, in Silver Valley, to Jack and Oma Lee Day Howard. On Aug. 31, 1943, he was married to Geneva F. Powell in Gouldbusk. He was a member of the Baptist Church and the Coleman Volunteer Fire Department from 1944 to 1968. He was a gas processing plant superintendent until his retirement in 1998.

    Survivors include his daughter, Jana Sue and husband Gary Kinsey of Lockhart; two sons, Bobby Glen Howard and wife Gloria of Repton, Ala., and Jerry W Howard of Austin; brother, Jack Howard Jr. of Lake Summerville; three sisters, Patty Jo Sneed and husband K. V. of Winters, Modena Tennison of  Abilene, and Robena Casey and husband Lee of Seminole; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva F. Howard; one sister; and three brothers.
