Funeral services for Ruth Algerene Duncan, age 91, of Brownwood will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at the Rocky Creek Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Rocky Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early.

She died Wednesday morning, Sept. 16, 2009, at a local nursing home.

She was born Nov. 11, 1918, at Anson, Texas, the daughter of the late D. Y. and Velma Glaze Norman. She graduated from Anson High School then attended the Robert B. Green School of Nursing at San Antonio. During World War II, she worked at Mosier Steel Co. in Houston. Following the war, she was married to Tom R. Duncan on July 12, 1946, in Brownwood. She was a member of the Rocky Creek Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Robert Hallford of Abilene; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Roberta Duncan of Bangs and Herschell and Dayle Duncan also of Bangs; seven grandchildren; six great-grandsons; four great-granddaughters; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Henry Norman of Brownfield, Carroll and Dorthy Norman of Oklahoma, and Roy and Marlyn Norman of California; brother-in-law, Marvin McMullen of Fort Worth; sister-in-law, Gladys Duncan of Irving; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tom Duncan; a sister, Pearl Norman; and a brother, Eugene Norman.
