SAN SABA ó Funeral services for Roy Sellman, 86, of Cherokee, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at Howell-Doran Funeral Home with Doug Suggs officiating. Burial will follow at the Rochelle Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
He died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007, at his home.
He was born March 21, 1921, in Rochelle to Charles and Vannie Long Sellman. He served in World War II with the U.S. Navy. He worked in California as a carpenter and instructor with the construction of RVís. He was also past commander of the Hollywood Post 939 VFW. On April 30, 1988, he was married to La Voyce Nichols in San Angelo, and later moved to Cherokee where they spent most of their married life.
Survivors include his wife, La Voyce Sellman of Cherokee; one son, Glen Weldon and his wife Martha of Aba Daba, Saudia Arbia; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill Sellman and his wife Maudie of Cherokee and Richard (Dickey) Sellman and his wife Ida of Fredericksburg; four sisters, Lula May Burton and husband Ray of Ohio, Sue Wyres of New Braunfels, Callie McMurry of New Braunfels and Sarah Sessom of Texarkana; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Cherokee Childrenís Home or the Disabled American Veterans.
