BRADY - Funeral services for W.B. Byrd, 80, of Brady will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels in Brady. Burial will follow to Rest Haven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

He died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, at his home.

He was born April 27, 1928, in Leaday, to Clarence and Martha (Hall) Byrd. He owned and operated World Wide Erections for over 50 years. He erected over 700 microwave towers for AT&T. He installed the first cellular systems in San Antonio, Dallas, Austin and Houston. He installed the first cellular system for N.O.R.A.D. and Air Force One.

Survivors include his companion, Cheryl Davidson of Brady; former wife, Mary Lou Byrd of Brady; three sons, Steve Byrd and wife Deanna of Brady, Mike Byrd of Brady, and William B. Byrd of Houston; Cheryl Davidsonís sons, Joe Davidson and Max Davidson of Brady; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, and one sister.
