Lorene Bell Evans passed away Friday, July 11, 2008. She was born on July 3, 1910, to Will and Ethel Alford in Owens, Texas. Lorene had a full and active life and loved to tell stories of her adventures and memories of her family. Her life and the lives of those who preceded her will live on through those stories. Lorene will join those she loved in the family plot in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Owens.

She is survived by her children, Charlene Cain and husband, Harry; Clotile Corder and husband Ray; Jim Evans and wife Catherine; and Shaye Evans. Also, so important to her were her grandchildren, Harry Cain Jr., and wife Wanda; Ann Cain; Debra Etheredge and husband Burl; Ray Corder Jr., and wife Kim; Heather Arnold; Walter Evans and wife Susan; and Tracey Peterson and husband Greg. From this group, Lorene also leaves 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters. She has one deceased granddaughter, Susan Cain Ackerman, who has been waiting for her, and whose husband, John, is among her mourners.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2008, at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Davis-Morris Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In the near future, there will be a celebration of her life at Terrace United Methodist Church of Houston, where she worshiped, as possible, in the last years of her life.

We want to thank and acknowledge the special care she received from Tranquility Residential Living and from Gulf Coast Hospice Care, both in Houston, Texas.
