Graveside services for Viola Gilbreath Neighbors Mothershead, 85, of Winchell, will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at Cox Cemetery in McCulloch County with Pastor Jimmy Nail officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home.
Viola, known to those who loved her as “Punch,” passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2007, at the Brownwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Punch was born Aug. 27, 1921, in Milburn to Andy and Lovie Griffith Gilbreath. She was a graduate of Rochelle High School in 1939.
Punch married Heubert Doyal Neighbors on Aug. 24, 1939, in Brownwood. They had three children.
On April 2, 1972, she married John William Mothershead.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Mothershead; two sons, Dr. J. Nub Neighbors from Denton; J. Dale Neighbors, also from Denton; daughter, Linda Neighbors Wooldridge and husband Paul of Winchell. She is also survived by granddaughter, Shane Neighbors Hagood and husband Kevin of Leander, and great-grandchildren, Cody and Katie Hagood of Leander; sister, Velma Gilbreath Adams and husband J. W. Adams of Winchell; brothers-in-law, Burl A. Pillos of Lake Brownwood and Jack Johnson of Menard; and sister-in-law, Pauline Neighbors Dopson of Corpus Christi; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyal Neighbors; parents, Andy and Lovie Gilbreath; and siblings, Oleta Gilbreath Pillows, Marie Gilbreath Johnson and Andrew Jackson Gilbreath Jr.
