Funeral services for Maria L. Castillo, 87, of Santa Anna, Texas, were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Romanus Akamike officiating. Interment followed in the Santa Anna Cemetery under the direction of Henderson Funeral Home of Santa Anna. Rosary was held at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6,  at Henderson Funeral Home.

    Maria passed away at 2:07 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, at the Brownwood Regional Medical Center in Brownwood.

    She was born Maria Luisa Perez on May 2, 1923, in Rosales Coala, Mexico, to Mauricio and Carmen Perez Garza Perez. Maria was raised in Acuna, Mexico, where she attended school. On Oct. 31, 1941, Maria was married to Ramon P. Castillo in Acuna, Mexico, and they celebrated 41 years of marriage. She has been a resident of Santa Anna since 1970 and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a housewife.

  Survivors included her two daughters, Carmen Salazar of  Fort Worth, Texas, and Irma Castillo of  Brownwood, Texas; two sons, Fernando Castillo of Santa Anna, Texas, and Ray Castillo of Santa Anna; 28 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

 Maria was preceded in death by two sons, Ramon Castillo Jr. and John Ramon Castillo; one sister; and four brothers.
