Funeral services for Paul Lindley Palmer will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2008, in the Early First Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Ailshie and the Rev. Lowell Skaggs officiating. Interment will follow at the Eastlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Heartland Funeral Home in Early. Mr. Palmer passed away Sunday in San Angelo after a brief illness. Paul was born Dec. 23, 1931, in Indian Gap, Texas to George and Clifford Brown Palmer. He married Dale Williams March 26, 1953, in Abilene, Texas. Paul was a lifetime resident of Brown County. He was a longtime member of Early First Baptist Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

He was very involved in the Early Lions Club, and had been a member for 50 years. He was also past president of the Texas Lions Camp and past District Governor. Paul was retired from the National Guard, where he served for a number of years. He retired from the United States Postal Department having served in the Brownwood and Early post offices.

Paul is survived by his wife Dale of 55 years; one brother, Wayne Palmer of Abilene, Texas; one step-sister, Dorothy Sample of New Mexico; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Prentice Palmer; and a step-son, Jack Hancock.
