FORT WORTH - LaWanda J. Willis, 78, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2008, in Fort Worth.

A private memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2008, at First Baptist Church of Saginaw. Dr. Danny Howe will officiate.

LaWanda was born in Abilene, Texas, on Jan. 11, 1930, to Jess and Daisy Narrell Bollinger. She graduated from Abilene High School and later from Howard Payne University. She began an education career teaching in Coleman, Silverton, Meridian and Brownwood before retiring due to her declining health.

Survivors include her children, Roy and Carolyn Willis of Fort Worth, Martha Middleton and Cary Cook of Abilene; sister, Ann Madona of Round Rock, Texas; granddaughter, Karen and Mike Gregory of Keller, Texas; grandsons, Robert and Kimberly Middleton of Murphy, Texas, John and Teresa Willis of Fort Worth; Jason Middleton of North Richland Hills, Texas; and nine great grandchildren
