BRADY - Funeral services for Jesse B. Tate, 77, of Brady will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, at the First Methodist Church in Brady, with the Rev. Sheldon Johnson and the Rev. Alan Delafield officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery with Masonic graveside honors.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels.
He died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, in Austin.
He was born May 4, 1931, in Huckabay, to Jesse Bennett Tate Sr. and Mattie (Wynn) Tate. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. In 1990 he retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Services (now National Resources Conservation Service). He owned and operated Brady Appliance, which is still in operation today. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Brady. He was a member of the Brady City Council since 2006, and a former member of the Brady Lions Club. He was a 32nd-degree Mason.
Survivors include his wife, Diana Tate of Brady; a son, Curtis Counts of Brady; mother-in-law, Mary Ella Williamson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
