Funeral services for Troy Gerald Daniel, 77, of Brownwood will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 31, 2008, at Early First Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Ailshie officiating.

Interment will follow in the Eastlawn Memorial Park. Heartland Funeral Home of Early is in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Troy was born July 30, 1930, in Hale Center, Texas, to Robert and Myrtle Daniel. After growing up in Plainview and graduating from the Plainview High School, the majority of his life was spent in the grocery business, working for Safeway, Winn-Dixie, Barber Super Markets and Piggly Wiggly.

Troy served as vice president for the J.R. Beadle Grocery for 14 years before purchasing the company in 1981 and changing the name to Save-On Food. He served on the board of directors for Southwest State Bank and was voted Man of The Year in 1986.

Mr. Daniel was a Baptist and a Mason.

Troy is survived by his four children, Kathy Don Drisdale and husband Tommy of Denton, Texas, Blane Daniel of Early, Texas, Kam Gibson and husband Robert of Conroe, Texas, and Kristi Thomas of Bangs, Texas; a brother, Bob Daniel and wife Marie of Amarillo, Texas; and a sister, Dixie Gold of Plainview, Texas. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister and his son Britt.
