A memorial service for Oveldo Norman Stark will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2007, at Davis-Morris Funeral Home with graveside services to follow at Greenleaf Cemetery.
Oveldo Norman Stark, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2007. A native to Brownwood, she was born June 2, 1921, to William H. and Cordelia Guest Norman. She was a member of Brownwood High School’s graduating class of 1938 and went on to graduate from Daniel Baker College in 1941 with degrees in home economics and education.
She married Oran Perry Stark on Feb. 13, 1949, and worked for GTE where she retired in 1985 with 42 years of service. In her retirement years she was active. She enjoyed her class reunions for both BHS and Daniel Baker College. She loved visiting nursing homes in the community and considered herself an advocate for the elderly. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren immensely. She will be remembered for her joy, love, laughter and her kind, generous heart.
Mrs. Stark is survived by her husband, Oran Perry Stark; daughter, Virginia H. Lee of Fort Collins, Colo.; granddaughter, Denise Lee Sears and husband of Keller; grandsons, Robert Hoyle Lee and Sammie Coy Lee, both of Fort Collins, Colo.; great-granddaughter, Cassie Whiteman of Fort Collins, Colo.; great-grandsons, Gareth Ian and Aaron Bradley Sears, both of Keller; nephews, Gerald Benton of Jacksonville, Fla. and Bill Norman of Houston; and nieces, Gaye Downes of Arlington and Jennifer Norman of Lubbock.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Henry and Cordelia Guest Norman; brothers, David Henry and James Grant Norman; and sister, Lucretia Benton.
