COMANCHE — Graveside services for Dessie Marie “Granny” Johnson, 71, of Comanche, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, at Sardis Cemetery in Comanche County with the Rev. Kenneth Steele officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
She died Saturday, June 9, 2007, at her home.
She was born Feb. 2, 1936, in Decker, Tenn., to Mack and Dessie Brinkley Sutton. On Jan. 20, 1972, she was married to Ronnie Johnson in Fort Worth.
Survivors include her husband, Ronnie Johnson of Kopperl; sons, Joey Lavender of Abilene, Nicky Lavender of Comanche and Oscar Romo of Comanche; daughters, Valerie Wilson of Hamilton and Christy Lucky of Ranger; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Shutters and Brenda Williams, both of Comanche, and Emma Isbel and Cynthia Wimberley, both of Tennessee; and brother, Larry Sutton of Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Wunima Rose and Rosa Lee Owens; and one granddaughter, Casey Lavender.
