IRVING — John Virgil Wright, 72, a resident of Irving, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, at a Dallas hospital.
He was born Sept. 12, 1935, in Lampasas County to Charlie and Bertha May Davis Wright. On Oct. 14, 1957, he was married to Ruby Faye Ross in Nowata, Okla. After more than 20 years, he retired as a service supervisor from Trane Company in Dallas. John was a war historian, amateur astronomer, musician, wood craftsman and an avid hunter. He was completely devoted to his daughters and their husbands, grandchildren, great-grandson and most especially his wife of 50 years.
Survivors include his wife, Faye; daughters, Donna Lewis and husband Carey of Henrietta, Karen Angelica of Riverside, Calif., Cindy Latimer and husband Michael of Colleyville and Mary Carrol of Irving; grandchildren, Darla Ashley and husband Nathan of Abilene, Monica Latimer of Colleyville, Brendan Moore of Riverside, Calif., Greg Lewis and wife Tiffany of Richardson and Spencer Carrol of Irving; great-grandson, Hunter Ashley of Abilene; brothers, Barney Wright and wife Anne of Denton, O.B. Wright and wife Odessa of Whitehouse and J. R. Wright and wife Myrna of Brownwood; sisters, Margie Daniel of Comanche and Charlotte Graham of Brownwood; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at the funeral home. Funeral services were at 1 p.m., Friday, Oct. 26, at Donnelly’s Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brian Hall officiating. Interment followed at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving.
