Lorena Schmidt, age 94, of Early died from injuries received in an automobile accident on Wednesday in Early.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday at the Copperas Cove Cemetery with the Rev. Benny M. Allcorn officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early.
A public memorial service will be held at a later date.
She was born March 18, 1914, in Coryell County, the daughter of Fred C. and Laura Kattner Groth. Following her graduation from high school, she married Andrew Schmidt on July 3, 1935, in Copperas Cove. She was a homemaker who loved to cook, work in the garden, quilting, and painting. Most of all though, she loved her grandkids and especially the great grandchildren.
She had been a resident of Early since 1988 moving from Snyder and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Early.
She is survived by her daughter, Martha McCain of Early; two grandchildren, Phillip McCain and wife Jeannie of Abilene, and Marlo McCain Karg and husband James of Fort Worth; and five great-grandchildren, Jordan and Andrew McCain, Heather, Julia and Emma Karg. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five brothers and sisters; and her son-in-law, Charles McCain.
