Funeral services for James Mayo McQueen, 78, of Brownwood, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at the Netherton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ruben Packer officiating. Interment will follow in Cox Cemetery with the Rev. Glenda West officiating under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Netherton Funeral Home.

He passed away Saturday evening at the VA Hospital in Temple.

James was born July 3, 1928, in Brownwood, Texas, son of the late Andrew and Gaudie McQueen. He served in the United States Army and was a welder and heavy equipment operator. He was a lifetime resident of Brownwood.

Survivors include his wife, Grace McQueen of Brownwood; two sons, Hollis Waddle of the Fort Worth area and Gary Funderburg of Bethany, Okla.; four daughters, Doris Haak of Santa Anna, Grace Williams of Sulphur Springs, Annie Myrick of Blanket and April Robbins of Arlington; one brother, Vadas Deen McQueen of Odessa; two sisters, Betty Boyd of Early and Quata Belle Quilliams of Burkburnett; and a number of grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Millard Funderburg; two brothers, Howard McQueen and Coolidge McQueen; and a brother-in-law, Preston Boyd.

The family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or favorite charity.
