D. A. “Dolly” Hager, age 76, of Brownwood died Wednesday afternoon at the Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Eastlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Eddie Ailshie of the First Baptist Church of Early officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early.

He was born Oct. 31, 1931, in Jones County, the son of the late Walter Richard and Bertha Mickler Hager. He grew up in the Jones County area and later married Sharon Throckmor-ton in Stamford in 1956. She preceded him in death in 1999.

He had been a resident of Brownwood for the past 43 years and was a former owner/manager of the Gate One Motel and a local antique store. He also was a carpet installer for several years and owned several rental properties in the area. He had previously lived in Carlsbad, N.M., and Colorado before moving to Brownwood.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in the Korean War and was a Baptist.

He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Rinehart and her husband Gary of Stephenville’ two sons, Doug Hager of Austin and Tim Hager and his wife Carol of Early; three brothers, W. R. Hager of Weinert, Chris Hager of Stephenville and Don Hager of Paris; and sister, June Neff of Stamford; seven grandchildren, Ashley Lindsey, Angela Osinga, Alison Rinehart, Chris Tobias, Cassie Firth, Zachary Hager and Ben Hager; and seven great-grandchildren also survive.
