RISING STAR — Funeral services for Billy Ray Epley, 72, of May will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2009, at The First Baptist Church in May with Brother Bill Dodd officiating and Brother David Pate assisting. Burial will be in the May Cemetery with Higginbotham Funeral Home of Rising Star in charge. The family will have visitation from 6-8 p.m. today, at the funeral home.
Billy passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2009, in May.
Billy was born Aug. 25, 1936, in May, to Earl and Opal Ethridge-Epley. He graduated from Cisco Jr. College with an Associates Degree and attended A&M. He was in the United States Army from 1958-1960. He was married to Joylene Boyd on Sept. 5, 1970, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, in the Holder Community by Brother Everett Yielding. He was a rancher and worked for the Soil Conservation Service. He lived in the May community all of his life and was a Baptist. He had many interest which included; hunting, fishing, and collecting arrowheads. He loved his land, history, reading, westerns, country music, spending time with his family, and peach ice cream.
He is survived by his wife, Joylene Epley of May; daughter, Lisa Ford and her husband, Scotty of May; sister, Betty Beck and her husband, Adron of May; grandson, Kelby Ford of May; granddaughter, Kendra Ford of May; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Herman Epley.
