Robert Lee McEwin, 66, of Hamilton, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, in the Hamilton Healthcare Center.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, in the Mercers Gap Cemetery under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Hamilton with Marvin Andrews officiating.
Robert Lee McEwin was born May 9, 1943, in Grand Prairie, Texas, to Mr. Ores Eldon and Rena Mae Huggins McEwin. Mr. McEwin worked for the railroad for many years and also was an attendant and janitor for the nursing home. He was a proud volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program in Hamilton and also for the Hamilton Senior Center.
Robert was a Baptist.
He is survived by his sisters, Rena Moreland of Fort Worth, Texas, Patsy Ratliff and her husband Ben of Robert Lee, Texas, Susie Gilby of San Angelo, Texas, Joyce Rogers and her husband Mickey of Spur, Texas, and Kate Edwards and her husband Jim of Hamilton, Texas; brothers, Emil McEwin and his wife Sylvia of Nocona, Texas, and Jerry McEwin and his wife Gay of Brownwood, Texas. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to give a special thank you to the Hamilton Healthcare Center, Dr. Shalor Craig, and the Hamilton Senior Center, especially Donna Ashmore for the special care she gave Mr. McEwin. Robertís brothers and sisters would also like to thank their baby sister Kate and her husband, Jim Edwards, for all the love and care given to Robert over the years.
