VALERA — Graveside services for Ardell Monroe, 84, of Valera, will be at 11 a.m. today at Valera Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Grossman officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Henderson Funeral Home of Coleman.
The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
He died Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, at Coleman County Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 6, 1923, in Coleman County to Aaron Homer and Maud Chloe Akins Monroe. On Sept. 6, 1946, he was married to Wanda Moser in Talpa.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Monroe of Valera; four daughters, Betty Curty, Shirley Beal and Brenda Sikes, all of Valera, and Bonnie Grossman of Gatesville; two sons, Terry Monroe of Coleman and DeWayne Monroe of Valera; six sisters, Mildred Barnes, Billie Rouillard, Patsy Jackson, Deoma Fisher, and Patricia Jones of Coleman, and Joy Livingston of Abilene; two brothers, Weldon Monroe of Andrews and L. J. Monroe of Coleman; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Leonard Ardell Monroe in 1960, two sisters and one brother.
