LeRoy H. ‘Bud’ Davis, age 91, of Brownwood passed away March 27, 2010 at a local hospital.
Bud was the oldest son of Alice Stace Davis and Robert Davis. He was born on Feb. 16, 1919, in Rome, New York. He was the owner of Davis Brothers Logging and Saw Mill prior to his retirement in 1973 when he and his wife moved to Leander, Texas where he worked for a nursing home as maintenance man for 15 years. Bud loved gardening and was well known for his organic vegetables and his beautiful roses and yard. He was also a very proud veteran serving in World War II as a medic where he was honored with numerous awards including the Bronze Star.
Bud is survived by his wife, Dorothy Miller Davis of Brownwood; three daughters, Dee Davis Szewcyk and husband Joe, Tena Davis Jones and husband Ronnie, and Alice Davis Torian and husband Gary; three grandchildren, Dena Torian, Shriena Ghazzagh, and Chappell Torian; and was very much looking forward to the birth of his first great-grandchild. He is also survived by one sister Emily Howard and many nieces and nephews.
Bud is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Sandra Leigh Davis and a Brother Robert Davis.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 3, 2010, at Central United Methodist Church with his son-in-law Dr. Gary Torian officiating. Private interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for memorial contributions to be made to the Brownwood Area Community Garden P.O. Box 1062 Brownwood, TX 76804.
