ABILENE — Zena Donahoo, 84, of Abilene, Texas, died on Friday, July 27, 2007.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery, 5701 Highway 277 South, Abilene, Texas.

The family will receive friends at a visitation at Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Faith from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 31.

Zena was born Aug. 3, 1922, at Rule, Texas, to Floy and Thomas B. McMeans. Zena had been a resident of Abilene, Texas, since 1956. She enjoyed her life as a homemaker, her friendships with neighbors, and her fellowship with those she met while working at Minters. Zena was passionate about gardening and making a home for her husband and children. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly. Zena enjoyed watching all girls’ sports, especially girls’ softball, a sport she played as a young person. Zena was a member of Woodlawn Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Nelson F. Donahoo; one brother, T. B. McMeans; and one sister, Zelma McMeans Price.

Zena is survived by one son, Nelson F. Donahoo Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Plano, Texas; two daughters, Donnie Da Butler and Angela Avery and her husband, James, all of Abilene, Texas; three grandchildren, Greg Butler and his wife, Betsy, of Fort Riley, Kan., Philip Donahoo and his wife, Gwen, of Lakeland, Fla. and Azure Avery of Denver, Colo.; and four great-grandchildren, James Butler, Hannah Butler, Tanner Donahoo and Hayden Donahoo.

Memorials may be made in memory of Zena Donahoo to Hendrick Hospice Care, P. O. Box 1922, Abilene, TX 79604.
