Despite a renewed dedication and determination to recover from a recent illness, Mickie Waren passed from this life on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007.

Mickie was born in the Salem Community of Brown County on July 8, 1926. She attended school in the Buffalo Community where she enjoyed playing basketball. She worked for many years at General Dynamics (Lockheed Martin) and retired from Bell Helicopter in Fort Worth. She enjoyed reading, handiwork and playing games of all kinds.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend to all. She was very passionate about and valued quality time spent with family and friends. She will be missed by all who loved her and knew her.

Mickie was preceded in death by her parents, W.D. and Ina Marie Graves; her husband, George Waren and her sister, Jerry Wilson.

She leaves behind many family members who loved her dearly; a son, Marcus Waren of Fort Worth; two daughters, Patrice Masterson and husband Mike, of Fort Worth and Connie Stephens of Fort Worth; two brothers, David Graves and wife Joyce, of Granbury and Wilbourne Graves and wife Shirley, of Fort Worth; sister, Libby Brooke of Bangs and brother-in-law, Johnny Warren and wife Virginia, of Brady.

“Gammie” was blessed with four grandsons, Lance Bernard and wife, Jennifer, of Austin, Wes Bernard and wife Amber, of Fort Worth, Derek and Brody Masterson of Fort Worth; and one granddaughter, Jessica Stephens of Fort Worth. Her 10 nieces and five nephews and their families were a key part of her daily life.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, in the Bangs First Baptist Church with Dr. Lee Evans officiating. Interment will follow in the Bangs Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at the funeral home.
