MAY - Funeral services for Mildred Ruth Lester, age 100, of Bertram, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, at the Wolf Valley Church in May. Interment will follow in the Wolf Valley Cemetery, under the direction of Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet.
Mildred passed away on Dec. 27, 2008.
She was born in Westbrook, on Sept. 18, 1908, the daughter of James Andrew Witt and Maggie Bell Elder. Mildred was a homemaker for most of her life. She was a member of the Methodist Church of 73 years. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and enjoyed ceramics and listening to music. She loved writing poems especially for her children.
She is survived by her four children, daughter, Maggie Nelda Lawson and husband, James of Troop, son, Travis Donald Lester and wife, Martha of Tyler, son George Fred Lester and wife, Lynda of Marble Falls, daughter, Lynda Sue Harned and husband, Kenneth of Lake Victor; numerous grandchildren, great, and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; husband, Thomas Jefferson Lester; three sons, Thomas Leo Lester, James Alton Lester and Vernon O’Neal Lester; and one daughter, Opal Ruth Hightower; and two grandchildren.
